$3M in NASA Funding to Help Students Build CubeSats

$3M in NASA funding will help students from underrepresented backgrounds build miniature satellites. The project will focus on the study of asteroids, but will offer many applications and possibilities that could be used to the study of Earth as well.

Presidential Early Career Awards for Scientists and Engineers Announced

EDO congratulates Lynn Carter, an associate professor in the Lunar and Planetary Laboratory and member of EDO's executive committee, as a recent recipient of the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE). Federal agencies nominate researchers in recognition of their contributions to the advancement of science, technology, engineering, and math eduction, and to community service as demonstrated by scientific leadership, public education, and community outreach.

Progress at the Second Annual EDO Retreat

Nearly 40 people attended the second annual EDO retreat on March 27 at the Hacienda del Sol Guest Ranch Resort. The event began with an hour of "speed talks," brief presentations of the many small— less than $10M—existing and proposed projects that EDO researchers are working on.
