Two graduate students from UArizona’s Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering Department, Ravi teja Nallapu and Yinan Xu, have authored a paper along with EDO’s Jekan Thangavelautham. The paper, entitled, “Spacecraft Swarm Applications for Monitoring Active Earth Features”, explores how low-cost swarm architectures equipped with SAR-based sensing methods can be utilized to monitor active features such as volcanoes. The expected applications are widespread with potential uses in both the natural and social sciences, as well as in disaster mitigation and security planning.
