EDO Solar Balloon Launched in Lake Havasu City

A student assembled solar balloon, SHAB-2, was launched in Lake Havasu City on October 15th. Solar balloons heat air inside a lightweight darkened envelope in order to rise and are a low-cost method to explore high altitudes or rugged regions. This particular balloon is the next in a series of steps to develop exploration platforms for analysis of both Mars and Venus.
